Going Green at the Waterfront

The TECHBlue Process

Voluntary - Independent - Interdisciplinary - Site Specific

As waterfront professionals we have a very specific duty when analyzing construction activity --- that of insuring careful stewardship of the waterfront. In most cases maintaining a site which is "water usage neutral" is only a beginning. Encouraging a clean waterfront footprint as a focus, we are dedicated to developing sites for recreational boating use which improve our local waterways.

Waterfront Improvement

Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) is the planning methodology used by the International Standards Organization (ISO). TECHBlue Center procedures and recommended Action Plans reflect ISO guidelines. Other source guides may include:

▪   Best Management Practices (BMPs) from state Clean Marina programs, regulatory and sustainable publications, and construction industry associations.

▪   Best Applied Technologies (BATs) from historical practice and building material warranty archives.

 ▪   EPA Performance Tracking

 ▪   Green building checklists for LEED and other sustainable development designations.

▪   Evidence based design and value engineering criteria.

▪   MasterSpec, GreenFormat, AIA and other industry specification outlines
